Generations Against Bullying is our charity partner for PVCF17!

Bullying

Ponyville Ciderfest is proud and honored to partner with Generations Against Bullying for 2017!

We are constantly looking for ways to make our events more impactful; not only in the memories of our attendees, but also for the community around us as a whole. When considering who our charity partner for 2017 would be, we were reminded that October is National Bullying Prevention Month. This concept is something that is important to many of our staffers, so we began to look for an appropriate charity. Little did we know how quickly, and how close, our search was going to end up.

Generations Against Bullying (GAB) is a Milwaukee based 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization with an important goal. Their mission statement says it best:

To educate our children and communities concerning the importance of the love, acceptance and cooperation needed to reduce the bullying epidemic. Using our unique, hands-on, proactive approach, in combination with our creative core programs and strategic partnerships, we will provide communities with the tools and resources necessary to promote a culture of upstanders to reduce the bullying epidemic.

Through community services, peer ambassador programs for students and schools, movie nights, celebrity speakers, school assemblies, and other special programs like their Upstander initiative and Buddy Bear, their peer “ambassadog”, GAB utilizes a wide range of initiatives to “shift the culture of bullying into a culture of love, acceptance and encouragement”. We can think of no more appropriate partner to have as our charity.

We will be supporting them through our Charity Auction, our Apple Pie Bakeoff, and other efforts. In return GAB will be on site to educate and answer questions about what they do. They will also be helping organize an anti-bullying panel with local experts.

We hope our attendees and guests are as excited about this partnership as we are! Here’s to a successful con, and a successful partnership.
